Tennessee Online Unarmed Guard Training Requirements

Training Requirements:
Training includes an examination covering subjects in which the individual must have to become a licensed unarmed security guard in Tennessee. In accordance with requirements under Tenn. Code Ann. § 62-35-118 all candidates must complete a four hour basic course including one (1) hour each of:
- Orientation
- Legal powers and limitations of a security guard/officer
- Emergency procedures
- General duties

Renewals:
Unarmed Guards/Officers renew registration every two (2) years.

Late Renewal Time Period:
There is a ninety (90) day late renewal period afforded for license renewal.
Unarmed security officers may renew during this time, but are not authorized to work with an expired license.

Class Duration:
4.5 to 5 Hours including progress quizzes and the 50 question final exam.

Standard of Conduct Agreement:
If a student is found to have not been the person who completed all the coursework, quizzes, and / or final exam, the penalty may include, but is not limited to, expulsion, permanent foreclosure from future classes, forfeiture of the course completion certificate, or all of the above in accordance with Alliance Training & Testing Standard of Conduct.
If applicable, a letter notifying the student’s sponsoring company or organization of the individual's misconduct, will be sent by Alliance Training & Testing to the appropriate official.
All violations of our Standard of Conduct will be immediately reported directly to The State of Tennessee Private Protective Services. Alliance Training & Testing LLC will formally request that the student’s unarmed license be immediately suspended and / or revoked for violating our Standard of Conduct.
Any attempt to manipulate the video speed and / or reduce the video playing time, such as skipping ahead, fast forwarding, or other unacceptable activity to reduce the video playing time, is in violation of the Standard of Conduct Agreement and will be grounds for immediate expulsion.

Tennessee Online Unarmed Guard Qualifications

Eligibility Requirements:
Be at least 18 years of age for registration as an unarmed security guard.
Be a citizen of the United States or a resident alien.
Have not have been declared by any court of competent jurisdiction incompetent because of mental defect or disease unless a court of competent jurisdiction has since declared the applicant capable.
If convicted in any jurisdiction of any of the crimes listed (below), have completed serving a sentence or court-ordered probation at least five (5) years before application.

Conviction of the following offenses shall disqualify an applicant, subject to the conditions stated:
Any felony
Any misdemeanor involving:
- Shooting a firearm or other weapon
- Shoplifting
- Assault and battery or other act of violence against persons or property
- Crimes involving the sale, manufacture, or distribution of controlled substances, controlled substance analogues, drugs, or narcotics;
- Theft of property
- Theft of services
Not be suffering from habitual drunkenness or narcotics addiction or dependence;
Not having any disability that, in the opinion of the commissioner, prevents the applicant from performing the duties of a security guard/officer.
Be of good moral character.
Must meet the training requirements.
Submit electronic fingerprints for processing TBI and or FBI criminal history checks.
