To be eligible for Unarmed Security Officer/Guard registration in Tennessee, you must:

- Shooting a firearm or other weapon.
- Shoplifting, theft of property, or theft of services.
- Assault, battery, or other acts of violence against persons or property.
- The sale, manufacture, or distribution of controlled substances, analogs, drugs, or narcotics.

RENEWALS & LATE RENEWAL TIME PERIOD
- Unarmed Guards/Officers must renew their registration every two (2) years.
- Prior to renewal, guards must complete two hours of refresher training and pass a multiple-choice test with a minimum score of 70%.
- A 90-day late renewal period is available; however, unarmed security officers cannot work with an expired license during this time.
